Open Data Institute

The ODI was co-founded by the inventor of the web Sir Tim Berners-Lee and AI expert Sir Nigel Shadbolt to address today’s global challenges using the web of data. The ODI brings together commercial and non-commercial organisations and governments around specific sectors to address today’s global challenges.

The ODI challenges business, governments and other organisations to publish their data and use it to address today’s global challenges. It provides leadership, research facilities and training to help set strategy and inspire innovation.

SDA has been a member since 2014, engaging with several of their open data challenges and using their platform to help lobby Government to provide better data.

techUK

TechUK, formerly known as Intellect, is the UK trade association for the technology industry. It has a Cyber Security Group focused on “high threat” areas - including defence, national security and resilience, the protection of critical national infrastructure, intelligence, and organised crime.

TechUK is the pre-eminent business association that “represents the companies and technologies that are defining today the world that we will live in tomorrow”. It works to develop markets, relationships and networks that support this goal, including advising government on how it can contribute.

SDA have been members since 2013, contributing regularly to its endeavours - particularly through membership of its Data Protection Group which has coordinated the market view of relevant legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Access 4 Learning Community

A4L is a global community spanning the education sector from individual schools to national education authorities as well as the businesses and consultants that support them. Its goal is to promulgate a simple, secure and open approach to standardisation so that education data can be managed better.

SDA has been a longstanding members of A4L as well as its predecessor, the Schools Interoperability Framework Association (SIFA). SDA is currently represented on the A4L UK Management Board.

The Association for Survey Computing

ASC’s principal objectives shall be to promote the study of and disseminate knowledge about all aspects of the use of information technology in the management and analysis of social and market research surveys and any related field, and to promote the highest standards of professionalism amongst those engaged in its practice.

SDA is a Corporate Member of the ASC and past winners of the ASC/MRS (The Market Research Society) quiz. We won in 2012 and again in 2016 with a joint SDA / GIDE team.

The World Wide Web Consortium

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web.

SDA has been involved in their development of proposals for a standard format for CSV files.

SDA are proud to have been one of the initial suppliers for the G-Cloud when it launched in 2012.

The Digital Marketplace G-Cloud is the place to go to find technology for digital projects in the public sector.
