Reports from Data

We turn your datasets into individual reports for each record of data.

Proven Solutions

These solutions illustrate possibilities. Whatever your datasets, SDA can turn your data into more accessible personalised information reports.

We have always been able to provide features required by our customers.

Digital Reports

A wide variety of different format reports can be produced.

The Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format used to present documents in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout flat document, including the text, fonts, graphics, and other information needed to display it.

GOV.UK is a United Kingdom public sector information website, created by the Government Digital Service to provide a single point of access to HM Government services. GOV.UK guidance on standards for electronic document file formats for long-term preservation PDF/A-1 ISO/IEC 19005-1:2005 and PDF/A-2 ISO/IEC 19005-2:2011

PDF/A is an ISO-standardized version of the Portable Document Format (PDF) specialized for use in the archiving and long-term preservation of electronic documents. PDF/A differs from PDF by prohibiting features ill-suited to long-term archiving, such as font linking (as opposed to font embedding) and encryption.

PostScript (PS) is a page description language in the electronic publishing and desktop publishing business. It is a dynamically typed, concatenative programming language.

PS versions of personalised reports can be provided to customers requiring these for external printing.

SDA can also combine PS files provided by an external third party with our PS personalised report production.

Hypertext Markup Language

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) is the standard markup language for creating web pages and web applications.

Extensible Markup Language

Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a markup language that defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable.

XSD (XML Schema Definition), a recommendation of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), specifies how to formally describe the elements in an Extensible Markup Language (XML) document. It can be used by programmers to verify each piece of item content in an XLM document.

SDA can take your dataset and create an XML based dataset. We can validate this against an apropriate XSD (XML Schema Definition) either provided by you, or created by us (or both), to provide comprehensive individual validation reports.

Word Clouds

Word clouds, or tag clouds, are a visual representation of text data, typically used to visualize free form text.

Tags are usually single words, and the importance of each tag is shown with font size or colour. This format is useful for quickly perceiving the most prominent terms and for locating a term alphabetically to determine its relative prominence.

SDA can produce word clouds from your data or based on websites. We can even produce solutions that provide word clouds in real time.

This is a word cloud that SDA produced from the DfE's facebook page.

Web Portals

One solution to secure delivery is a secure web portal. This enables a user to login and access their own personalised data, or for a Local Authority or Multi-Academy Trust to view personalised reports for their schools.

In fact we delivered this very solution for Ofsted between 2000 and 2006, it was called the ePANDA website. Ofsted could also access the web portal to get data for any LA and school.

As part of web portal delivery for Ofsted we delivered a single sign-on solution for the ePANDA website and another service we provided to Ofsted for school self-evaluation. This reduced the burden on schools as they only needed a single set of authentication details to access multiple sites.

For the Department for Education (DfE) we designed, built and provided a similar web portal again as a fully managed service. It was called Key to Success. We also implemented single sign-on with the Employee Authentication Services (EAS) for two factor authentication for Local Authority users and subsequently single sign-on for school users with the DfE's Secure Access authentication. These used SAML and SOAP, respectively.

Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is an open standard for exchanging authentication and authorization data between parties, in particular, between an identity provider and a service provider. As its name implies, SAML is an XML-based markup language for security assertions. The Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) is a protocol used by web services to communicate. SOAP uses XML to encode a message.

Datasets often contain sensitive information so email - a non secure delivery method - should never ever be used and a web portal delivered by SDA may provide a suitable delivery solution.

Combined Web Portal, PDF, PS & HTML report solutions

Often we implement solutions that combine a mixture of questionnaires, personalised reports and deliver through a web portal.

If required, SDA can provide PDF and PDF/A versions. PDF reports containing hyperlinks and PDF/A reports omitting hyperlinks.

SDA can produce individual certificates (of merit, of attendance, of ...) and we provide a bespoke service to give you the certificate you require.

A dataset of 3,000 people, could become 3,000 individual certificates containing data specific to each person.
Just think what we could produce from your dataset?

Our Report Portal contains many examples of our digital report solutions.

These are not templated but bespoke to your exact requirements for reports and dependent on your dataset(s) and data processing and validation needs.

Case Study

This digital solution involved the creation of 20,000 reports which were delivered to schools in England by SDA on behalf of our client.
